Mid-Term Milestone – PROSPECTS 5.0 on Track to Shape Industry 5.0

Mid-Term Milestone – PROSPECTS 5.0 on Track to Shape Industry 5.0

July 1, 2025

The PROSPECTS 5.0 project has successfully reached its first major milestone, concluding its mid-term review meeting in Leuven on 1 July 2025. During the first 18 months, the project has made strong progress in building a collaborative ecosystem, developing tools, and engaging stakeholders to advance the transition towards Industry 5.0.

Key achievements so far:

  • Building an Industry 5.0 ecosystem:

The project established the Industry 5.0 Community of Interest (I5.C), gathering over 51 member from across Europe — including Digital Innovation Hubs, industry associations, universities, and regional actors. Through a series of stakeholder workshops and dedicated engagement events, PROSPECTS 5.0 connected with EU-wide initiatives such as BRIDGES 5.0, SEISMEC, AI-REDGIO5.0, EDIHs, EFFRA, and the EC’s Industry 5.0 Community of Practice.

  • Developing the Industry 5.0 Assessment Framework (I5.AF):

A core focus was the co-creation of the Industry 5.0 Assessment Framework, designed to assess human-centric, sustainable, and resilient industry transformation. Insights were gathered through 17 workshops and consultations across five key sectors and the involvement of 14 project use cases.

  •  Capturing lessons from industry practice:

PROSPECTS 5.0 analysed over 80 scientific and policy references and 14 real-world Industry 5.0 use cases, identifying key drivers, bottlenecks, and success factors. This evidence forms the foundation for the project’s upcoming Industry 5.0 Reports, addressing the challenges and opportunities of adopting Industry 5.0 principles.

  •  Accelerating knowledge sharing:

The Industry 5.0 Wiki, launched in the beginning of 2025, now serves as an open collaborative platform gathering knowledge, tools, and resources on Industry 5.0. The Community of Interest and external experts are actively contributing to its content.

Looking ahead:

In the next project phase, PROSPECTS 5.0 will focus on validating its Assessment Framework, delivering sectoral guidelines and policy recommendations, and supporting companies and policymakers in applying Industry 5.0 practices. New training modules, practical guidelines, and collaborative events will bring these outcomes to wider European industry and innovation ecosystems.
